After
gaining a degree in Fine Art from Loughborough, Rob Hain has gone on to develop
his craft using the landscape of the Scottish Borders as his inspiration.
He won a Civic Trust Award for his work in Italian Centre in Glasgow and has
had works on show at St. Mungo's Museum of Religious Life and Art. His fondness
for the community reveals itself in the Lowry-inspired townscapes he paints
but he is equally at home with more abstract compositions.
Rob
is a versatile artist with a keen interest in the life going on around him.
It was while working alongside artists with learning difficulties and mental
health problems that he gained an insight into a different approach to art.
He began instead to engage on a more immediate level and the resultant works
became more intuitive and less staged. He quickly became aware of the relative
freedom of expression when liberated from the shackles of having an end result
in mind before commencing on the journey.
